University Support
Welfare Advisers
You can talk to one of the University Welfare Advisers. Appointments can be booked directly with an Adviser here . If you need further support with booking an appointment you can receive help from the Student Hub.
Wellbeing Support
The YSJ Wellbeing Team can provide you with emotional and mental health during your studies. You can self-refer for support here or attend the Wellbeing Drop-in Monday-Friday 1-3:30pm. At our free drop-ins, you can meet with a specialist Mental Health Practitioner for a short 1 to 1 session, offering you support and information for your wellbeing and mental health.
Our Practitioners can:
- listen
- provide a space for you to talk about your current mental wellbeing
- signpost you to internal and external services, and
- support you with coping strategies.
To visit the drop-in, go to the Student Hub Desk and let staff know that you are there for a Wellbeing drop-in. You will be asked to complete a short form when you arrive, and will be offered a session of around 20 to 30 minutes to explore your concerns. If the service is in demand, you may have to wait to be seen. The drop-in can also be accessed by students not on our York campus by calling the Wellbeing Team on 01904876760 between 1pm and 3.30pm.
YSJU Students Union
You can also talk to the Student Advice Coordinator at the Student's Union. They will be able to listen and signpost you to further support services. You can book a time to speak to the Student Advice Coordinator here.
